Criminal Sentence 403: Completely Messed Up

From a book I read:

"Their sense of space and time are completely messed up."

What else is messed up in this sentence?

Unless you're Einstein, space and time are very different things. So I would correct the sentence this way: "Their senses of space and time are completely messed up."
