Criminal Sentence 277: Bad Quality

Heard on the US Open telecast:

"The quality of second serves aren’t good."

And the quality of the sentence ISN'T good.

Ignore the prepositional phrase when you are thinking about subject-verb agreement. In this case, you would be concerned only with "The quality ..." It's clear that it matches up with "isn't," not "aren't."

Watch out for those pesky prepositional phrases!
