Criminal Sentence 227: "It Was" a Problem

From a book I read recently (about Avignon, France):

"It was in December 1360 that the threat once again descended on Avignon."

This is an example of wordy writing. Can you tell me what three words you can cut?

  1. Two possible rewordings, both of which eliminate the words it, was, and that.

"In December 1360, the threat once again descended on Avignon."

"The threat once again descended on Avignon in December, 1360."

  3. In December 1360 the threat again descended on Avignon.

    Four words out?
